In the 17th century, Sant Tukaram Maharaj was a well-known Saint in Maharashtra. Tukaram is known for his devotional poetry, known as Abhangas, and community-oriented worship, known as Kirtanas. Tukaram Maharaj belongs to The Warkari community .Vitthala or Vithoba or Panduranga, an avatar of Hindu god Vishnu, was the subject of his poetry.

A saint plays a significant role in the life of a devotee in Hinduism. The significance of a saint is also mentioned in Hindu scriptures. The Hindu scriptures state that by seeking refuge in a genuine saint and performing devotion in accordance with the scriptures, worshipers are liberated from the disease of birth and death.

For 17 years, the Maharaj was not aware of the mundane grief, Tukaram maharaj had one brothers. his name was Savji. Tukaram Maharaj was the second son of his father. Tukoba's father was old. He asked his eldest son to run the shop but Savji did not agree. Then Tukoba took the responsibility himself. He dealt honestly. Tukaram maharaj said that mother and father are forms of God, All the pilgrimage areas are at their feet. but in the meantime, the elder brother Savji's wife died after that Savji left for Yatra. his father Bolhoba arranged marriage of Tukaram Maharaj at his age of 11. His first wife's name was Rakhumabai. But she had asthma. Due to this, housework was not done, so at the age of 13, his father Bolhoba, arranged marriage of Maharaj for the second time. Maharaj's second wife was loved by all, so her name became 'Awadi'.

after that Tukoba's father died. A few days later the shop went bankrupt. It was time to close the shop. This time there was a famine everywhere. The Indrayani river had dried up. Tukoba's son began to starve for food. Tukoba's son died.…. now Tukoba disliked the world.

At the same time, Maharaj became Lonely. In addition to this grief, there was a drought in Maharashtra for 19 years. In this calamity, the Maharaja's moneylender sat down. his wife, and a son named Santoba and the mother Kankai went one after the other and this sudden grief cost Maharaj and he went to Bhamchandra. While meditating on food and water for 15 days, he became aware of the universal nature of the universal God and after returning from there, his life changed completely and he remained 'for the sake of benevolence'.

After the end of the famine, his second wife Jijau (Awadi) tried to motivate Maharaj in the world, but Maharaj was motivated to do 'Dinarjani Hachi Dhanda', so he did not play in the material world. Bhandara, Bhamchandra and Ghoradeshwar, solitary settlements, started chanting on the hill. It was from this waffle that Jijau became harsh, but his nature was not what it used to be.

Maharaj's Sadhana was strengthened and he was blessed with the dreamy grace of Shriguru Babaji Chaitanya in the Chaitanya series. On such an occasion, Shri Pandharirai and Namdevrai were ordered to recite poetry and Maharaj's awesome voice started raining nectar. However, in the Vedic tradition, the poem Karmath and the hypocritical mature ego was banned and on the orders of Rameshwar Bhatt, the Maharaj had to immerse the books of all the limbs in Indrayani river. that time, the Lord protected the books and proved the divinity and supernatural nature of the Maharaj. Later, the inflammation of Rameshwar's body, which was created by the curse of Angashah, was cooled down by Maharaj's word and he was walking in Maharaj's loyal Panchkoshi.

At the age of 41, with complete success and success, Maharaj set out to take Panduranga to Vaikuntha and God fulfilled it. On the day of Falgun Vaidya Dwitiya Shak 1571, Tukaram Maharaj passed away he took Samadhi. He is indebted to Maharashtra alone and the entire Warkari sect is in his favor. He made it clear from his body that we should do bhakti even while doing prapancha. Sant Tukaram said, 'Sant jaana jagi daya kshma jyanche angi'.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj's Guru was Sant Namdev This is demonstrated by one of his Abhanga. ‘Namdeve kele swapnamaji jage |  Save Pandurang Yevonia ||  [नामदेवे केले स्वप्नामाजी जागे....सवे पांडुरंगे येवूनिया.] Namdev, who appeared in the Dream of Tukaram with Lord Vitthal, imparted knowledge.

This is the basic inspiration of his poetry. He eloquently expressed his experiences on the path of self-development through a subjective role. ‘I did not speak my mind, Panduranga’, ‘experience of the word is in hand |  Bolviti dev maj ', Apulia bale nahi mi bolat  Sakha Kripavant Vacha Tyachi  || ', Pari Tya Vishwambhare Bolvile' etc. 'zadu santanche marg |  Aadarani bharle jag', Budate hey Jag na Dekhave Dola | Yeto Kalvala mhanvuni | These Equally important is the purpose behind his poetry.

Whether he attributes his poetry to the Lord Vithoba in this way, or if Namdeo came in a dream and gave a vision of the creation of poetry, ‘Tuka mhane jhara | The same suffix 'is the root of truth' does not remain until it comes to the student of Abhanga literature. ‘Anuraniya Thokada |  The greatness of the devotion from which Tukoba received the highest feeling, 'Tuka akashaevadha', he sings aloud. His path of devotion is karma-oriented, there is no place for sannyasa in it. On the contrary, self-realization through devotion is the essence of Vedanta, so ‘let us know the meaning of Vedanta. "Yeranni wahwa bhar mathan" | That's what Tukoba says with confidence. Through this devotional path, he wanted to nurture traditional Noble thoughts and cultivate new values.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj composed over 4,000 Abhangs. The Abhangs are related to God Panduranga(Vithoba)
